Ottawa just committed over $2 billion to get Canadian businesses using AI. Here's how to be ready.
On June 4, 2026, Prime Minister Mark Carney launched AI for All — Canada's national AI strategy. The goal: take AI adoption from 12% of businesses to 60% by 2034, and create 250,000 AI-related jobs in five years. If you run a small or medium business, this strategy was written with you in mind — and the businesses that move early will take the gains.
WHAT THE GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCED
— Free AI literacy training for all Canadians through a new National AI Literacy Initiative
— A direct commitment to help small and medium businesses adopt AI — in health, energy, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, robotics, and services to government
— Training and upskilling for workers, including employer-led training on AI skills
— Over $2 billion in funding, including $500 million for regional AI adoption and $500 million for a Canadian Tech Growth Fund
In the Prime Minister's own words: AI can "make a small business more competitive."
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR BUSINESS
The government will teach Canadians what AI is. It won't rebuild your business around it. Free literacy courses create awareness — not the redesigned workflows, the working systems, or the 5–10x output gains. That gap between "my team took a course" and "my business runs on AI" is exactly what I do.
And the adoption wave is coming either way: when the national target is 60% of businesses on AI by 2034, waiting means competing against businesses that already made the jump — many of them government-supported.
FUNDING YOUR TEAM'S AI TRAINING — AVAILABLE NOW (ONTARIO)
The Ontario Job Grant funds employee training at up to $10,000 per trainee — and if you have fewer than 100 employees, you pay as little as one-sixth of the cost. Training newly hired, previously unemployed staff can qualify for up to $15,000 at 100% coverage. Applications are open year-round.
The fine print matters: the grant covers employees (not owners), training must run through an approved provider type, and program rules decide final eligibility. That's where I come in.
HOW I HELP YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE
1. Funding-readiness consult (free, 30 min). Where your business fits in the new landscape: what's free, what's fundable, what's coming under AI for All — and what to do this quarter.
2. AI workshops and team upskilling aligned with the strategy's employer-led training push — from fundamentals to your team using AI on your actual workflows. I'll help you navigate the grant landscape so your training plan fits program requirements where possible.
3. Full AI transformation. Beyond training: I rebuild your operations around AI — the outcome the government wants 60% of businesses to reach, delivered now instead of 2034. See the case studies on the homepage.
The strategy is a five-year rollout. The advantage goes to businesses that are ready when each program opens.
Program details verified July 2026 against Government of Canada and Government of Ontario sources. Programs and eligibility rules change — final eligibility is always determined by the granting body.
